THE SCHOOL OF PHILOSOPHY
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE
February 3, 1997

The Board of Deans of the School of Philosophy, which held a session on February 3, 1997 at 1 pm has made the following

that until the session of the Scientific-Teaching counsil which will take place on February 4, 1997 at 1 pm, all work will cease at the School of Philosophy, effective of February 3, 1997 at 2 pm, as a sign of protest against the entry of the police into the building of the School of Philosophy and the beating of students in the night of February 2-3, 1997.

If the Scientific-Teaching counsil accepts this form of protest - the cessation of all work activities - the protest will start until the moment the demands are met for which a 7 day period is given:

• for the establishment of the facts regarding the entry of the police into the building of the School of Philosophy and the injury of the autonomy of the University (art. 4, par. 4 of the University Law: "the are of the University and its members is impenetrable in accordance with this Law").
• establishment of the guilty parties and the responsibility of those who are behind the disgraceful decision to enter the school and physically abuse the students.
• the establishment of the number of students taken for questioning, the number of arrested students, as well as the demand that they be released at once.
• for the organizing of the shifts for professors and associates at the school 24 hrs a day together with the student security.
