PRO-GOVERNMENT STUDENT MOVEMENT DEFENDS UNIVERSITY
PRESIDENTMember of the
pro-government student movement (NSP) leadership,
Ljudevit Boricic, said on Feb. 24 that there was no
reason for the Belgrade University students to continue
their protest. Boricic said that university president
Dragutin Velickovic, whose resignation is requested by
the students, won the vote of confidence at the Belgrade
University Council session and that, "he could be
dismissed only by those who had appointed him to this
post." The NSP leadership accused the student
protest leaders of being "foreign hirelings,"
and claimed that NSP was "not involved" in
politics.
