STUDENTS CONTINUE PROTEST.
On Feb. 24, more than 10,000 Belgrade
University students protested in the city center. The
students again marched through the busiest streets and
passed by the state television building. Students request
the recognition of the citizens' will expressed in the
elections and the dismissal of the Belgrade university
president, Dragutin Velickovic. The protest rally began
at 2 p.m. in front of the Philosophy College where
students acted out a plot-line called Back in the
Benches, symbolically showing that they would return to
classes, if Belgrade university president, Dragutin
Velickovic, and student vice-president, Vojin Djurdjevic,
are dismissed. Students placed benches in front of the
university administration building and listened to two
lectures on political manipulation and civic
disobedience, given by Philology College professor,
Ljubisa Rajic, and Political sciences professor, Milan
Podunavac. Copyright © 1997 by Beta News
