VICTIMS OF POLICE CRACKDOWN STILL IN HOSPITALMilena
Jaukovic, a Belgrade physician, visited on Feb. 9 on
behalf of Zajedno coalition pensioner Ljiljana Djuknic
(64), who was brutally beaten by police on Feb. 2 in
downtown Belgrade, the Democratic Party announced.
Several policemen clubbed Ljiljana Djuknic that night,
whereby she suffered severe physical injuries and a
broken arm. She is being treated at an emergency clinic
in Belgrade where she will undergo a surgery on Feb. 11.
Student Rastko Kostic, who was beaten by the police the
same night and suffered a broken hand and nasal bone, and
had two of his teeth knocked out, has been released from
the hospital to continue recovery at home. He will have
to undergo a surgery on his hand soon. Kostic said he
will press charges against the policemen.
