SABAC SOCIALIST COUNCILOR ATTEMPTS TO DISPERSE
DEMONSTRATORS WITH CAROn Feb. 9 in
Sabac a Socialist Party of Serbia councilor in the local
assembly, Dragan Markovic, tried to disperse a protest
march of opposition supporters using his car, and
threatened them with his pistol. Markovic drove straight
into the column as it was passing through a Sabac
residential area. The enraged demonstrators attempted to
demolish the vehicle, at which point Markovic pulled out
a pistol and aimed at the crowd. According to witnesses,
Markovic fired several shots in the air, cursing at the
demonstrators, before driving off from the scene of the
incident.
